Elton & Thompson, PC is a structural engineering firm specializing in the structural design of buildings – primarily commercial and residential. An Assistant Structural Design Engineer at Elton & Thompson, P.C. will assist all Design and Project Engineers in structural analysis/design, creation/editing of construction documents and management of workload at all levels of project completion. The assistance in these projects will require you to perform building code review, perform engineering analysis/design, provide calculations, perform structural detailing and shop drawing review. Our projects will include but are not limited to designs in steel, reinforced concrete, reinforced masonry, aluminum and various foundation systems. You will improve your understanding of the various building codes, material specifications and design software for the purposes of preparing calculations and construction documents. You will work on projects from start to finish, learning how buildings go together and the required skills to produce structural details. You will learn continuously throughout the 6 month co-op. We do not set any limit on what you work on. The more you absorb, the more you will advance! You should possess a strong mathematical background, problem solving and strong communication skills. Experience with AutoCAD. Engineering design courses are a plus.
