Literary Specialist K-4
(2 Full-Time Contracted Positions)
The Great Valley School District is seeking two dedicated Literacy Specialists to support the implementation of a comprehensive, evidence-based literacy program. The Literacy Specialists will provide direct literacy instruction to students, partner with teachers through coaching and professional learning to strengthen instructional practices across content areas, use student data to inform targeted interventions, and collaborate with teachers, building administrators, and district leaders to ensure the consistent implementation of instructional frameworks and high-quality literacy instruction that supports the success of all learners.
Key Responsibilities
Instructional Support
• Analyze student data to identify instructional needs, develop intervention groups, and monitor student progress
• Plan and deliver systematic, evidence-based literacy interventions for students receiving Tier II and Tier III support
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to implement effective instructional strategies and monitor student outcomes
• Plan, model, co-teach, and support high-quality literacy instruction to improve student achievement
• Provide instructional coaching through observation, feedback, reflection, and collaborative planning to strengthen teacher practice
• Foster collaborative, professional relationships that promote continuous improvement and student success
Curriculum Leadership
• Support the development, revision, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum, assessments, and instructional resources
• Assist teachers in aligning instruction with state standards, essential learnings, and district assessment practices
• Promote the integration of curriculum across content areas using district-approved instructional materials and resources
• Provide guidance and professional learning to strengthen curriculum implementation and instructional effectiveness
Professional Learning
• Plan, coordinate, facilitate, and evaluate professional learning aligned with district and school improvement goals
• Deliver ongoing professional development and instructional support to enhance teacher content knowledge and instructional practices
• Utilize a variety of professional learning models to meet the needs of staff
School Leadership
• Serve on and/or facilitate school and district leadership teams and committees
• Analyze student and instructional data to inform decision-making and continuous improvement efforts
• Share current research and best practices in English Language Arts to support instructional excellence
• Partner with building administrators to promote effective instructional practices and school improvement initiatives
Other Duties
• Participate in required professional learning, curriculum development, faculty meetings, and other district activities
• Maintain current knowledge of educational research, instructional strategies, and best practices
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or other designated administrator
Qualifications
• PA Certification: K-12 Reading Specialist and/or K-6 Elementary and/or K-3 Early Childhood and/or 4-8 ELA concentration required
• A minimum of 3 years of teaching experience required
• Experience planning and delivering differentiated small group literacy instruction within an elementary workshop instructional framework, and experience participating in and/or leading recent curriculum development preferred

2025-2026 Salary Schedule (contract for 2026-27 currently in negotiation):
Experience calculated per contract agreement not to exceed step 10
Bachelor’s $62,845 to $73,195 (Step 10)
Bachelor’s + 15 $67,145 to $77,495 (Step 10)
Master’s $78,045 to $88,395 (Step 10)
Master’s + 15 $80,520 to $91,120 (Step 10)
Master’s + 30 $82,995 to $93,845 (Step 10)
Master’s + 45 $85,470 to $96,570 (Step 10)
Master’s + 60 $87,945 to $99,295 (Step 10)
Doctorate $90,420 to $102,020 (Step 10)
