How to Find Job Opportunities

Students are empowered to identify and seek their own internships and full time jobs. Kean Career Services is here to provide students with the tools to be successful in their job search, from learning job search strategies, improving a resume for a particular role or supporting interview preparation. Once students have a resume ready to be shared, they are able to strategically apply to their dream jobs.

If you are not sure if your resume is a good fit for a specific position, use vMock to help you! This tool will review the job description and your resume together and provide AI generated feedback on how to improve it based on the qualifications required.

Handshake

Handshake is an early-career job platform where employers advertise openings for both full time and internship opportunities. Students are automatically provided with a Handshake account and must create and update their profile to get the best results from the search feature. This includes listing any past jobs, hard skills developed while a student and degree type. With this information, the Handshake jobs portal will be able to pull the best fit opportunities. LinkedIn

LinkedIn is a networking and job search site that lists opportunities globally, and for all levels of experience. On LinkedIn, individuals can do research on companies and identify new opportunities or industries one may not have been aware of before. Many employers use LinkedIn to supplement their job posting, and it is a great place to start your job search.

Company Websites

The best way to stay current on open opportunities in any company is to check out their company website Career pages. Company websites will have the most accurate information about open roles but this is the most time-consuming as you need to visit each website individually. Pro-tip: Sign up for email notifications for when jobs in your preferred background become available!
